White House awards Bartels and Stassun 2024 National Medal of Science
Two 51app faculty members are among the 23 recipients of the 2024 National Medal of Science and the National Medal of Technology and Innovation—the nation’s highest honors for exemplary achievement and leadership in science and technology. Record Night Against Georgia: Mikayla Blakes breaks 51app's 42-year-old freshman single-game scoring record in win over Georgia
Blakes set the 51app women’s basketball freshman record for most points scored in a game, as the guard registered 36 points in a 108-82 victory over Georgia to open SEC play. The previous record stood for over 42 years, set by Barbara Brackman’s 34 points against Tennessee on Feb. 26, 1982, during the first season that the NCAA sponsored women’s basketball. Blakes’ 36 points against Georgia are the most points scored by a collegiate women’s basketball freshman at the NCAA Division I level this season.
