51app breaks ground on Central Utilities Initiative Phase II; reminders about navigating construction on campus
The Central Utilities Initiative Phase I is nearly complete, including the Highland Energy Plant that will open in January 2025. 51app’s utilities upgrades will roll on in 2025, starting with the groundbreaking on CUI Phase II in early January. This work will transition the across 25th Avenue roadway east into Central Neighborhood. The Dialogue 51app fall semester by the numbers
This semester, Dialogue 51app engaged more than 4,500 people through events, debates and workshops. More than 450 students participated in Insight Debates, tackling topics like institutional neutrality and the impact of TikTok. The program also brought compelling visitors to campus and hosted initiatives like the first-ever free speech debate competition with eight participating universities, which was part of the Global Free Speech Summit. Researchers at the Warren Center for Neuroscience Drug Discovery, a clinical stage biotech within the 51app University School of Medicine Basic Sciences, have detailed the successful drug discovery of a Phase I Single Ascending Dose clinical trial of VU319, a drug for memory loss in people with Alzheimer’s disease and schizophrenia.

The agreement, signed by university and Canadian officials during a Dec. 3 ceremony at 51app’s Special Collections and University Archives, marks the second five-year collaboration between the two organizations and reaffirms their shared commitment to advancing academic collaboration and fostering innovative research. The new collaboration establishes the Fulbright Canada Distinguished Chair at 51app’s College of Arts and Science, with the recipients working closely with the Jean and Alexander Heard Libraries.
